24th Jahrdung, IC 2512
Robert Lacy d’Aghuillam duCourt, Elven noble, Lucidius Lavarar, raconteur, Fatuus Fitzue, apprentice wizard, and Alitl Flagelant, Dwarven warrior, arrive at the Coach & Horses Inn, on their way to Altdorf to answer an advertisement placed by Prince von Tasseninck asking for adventurers to accompany him on a perilous mission into the Grey Mountains.
Fitzue plays cards with the gambler Phillipe Descartes, which results in the latter being subdued by Fitzue’s sleep spell after Descartes cheats. Descartes is locked up (and later released) by the landlord.
25th Jahrdung
The adventurers take a Ratchett Lines coach to Altdorf; on the route they are attacked by mutants. The body of a man called Kastor Lieberung from Middenheim is found—incredibly, he looks just like Fitzue. He has with him a parchment with which he was to claim a recent inheritance; Fitzue takes this, and his identity.
That night is spent at the Inn of the Seven Spokes.
26th Jahrdung
At dusk adventurers arrive in Altdorf and Fitzue is strangely signalled by Purple Hand cultists.
Lavarar meets his old friend, the boatman Josef Quartjin; Fitzue asks around the Königplatz; duCourt discovers Prince von Tasseninck has already left for the Grey Mountains.
At the Boatman Inn the adventurers get into a fight with a brutal thug called Max Ernst and the bodyguards of some drunken nobles spoiling for a fight; Ernst is killed but duCourt gets his right forearm shattered and his hip broken.
The adventurers leave Altdorf in a hurry aboard Quartjin’s boat, the Berebeli.
27th – 29th Jahrdung
The Berebeli travels along the Weissbruck Canal. On the way duCourt visits a surgeon and recuperates.
On the evening of the 29th the adventurers arrive in Weissbruck and hire street urchins to tail Adolphus Kuftsos and his thugs, who are tailing them. The thugs are put to sleep and drugged, and Fitzue sends Kuftsos a message to meet him at twelve midnight in an alley. At 10pm Fitzue is shot in an alleyway by Kuftsos but he manages to get a sleep spell off and Kuftsos is captured. The Berebeli leaves Weissbruck with Kuftsos on board.
30th Jahrdung
As the adventurers travel to Bögenhafen, Kuftsos is questioned and nearly thrown overboard, but finally everyone is convinced of the real state of affairs. They discover that Kuftsos is a bounty hunter who has been following Kastor Lieberung, known as a Purple Hand cultist. It was he who set up the trap of a false inheritance. Fitzue had inherited Lieberung’s problems …
31st Jahrdung – Mitterfruhl Spring Equinox
The Berebeli travels down the River Bögen to Bögenhafen while Fitzue and duCourt recuperate from their wounds. duCourt however is still incapacitated for another week.
