Having followed the herd myself and since wondered why I did, this article had some interesting points, but I can’t help wondering whether the reviewer would have been quite so scathing if the founders had professed communist or socialist visions of a utopian global community as their justification for building Facebook.
Personally I don’t have much of a problem with the professed conservative values of the “free market and limited government”, they’re what’s made the ‘Western’ world the relatively free place it is.
And on the revenue side of things, if you don’t click on the ads you’re not contributing. The volunteering of personal information for use by a body of incompetents like the CIA is a concern mind you!
Ultimately, Facebook is a time-wasting exercise though, as I suspect a lot of people are beginning to discover.
